Well, apparently, according to the distributor of Dora the Explorer on DS which I recently reviewed, I “did not get it”. No kidding - it isn’t aimed at me. But to claim that I did not understand who the target audience was or take this into consideration is BS. Sure, I took the piss in the review - no-one would even look at it twice otherwise - but, if you read the final paragraph, you would see that I did in fact take these things into account.
Fact is, this is shovelware even by kid’s game standards. The target audience may well be ‘2-6 year olds’ but anyone younger than 4 would be just as amused by a piece of string or a cardboard box - neither of which cost $60, let alone the price of a DS, not to mention the fact that the enjoyment would probably last longer. And you could use the box or string for something useful afterwards, rather than just letting it sit there gathering dust.
If you want to waste your money, fine. Go for it. I’m glad “the game has been a hit with all the 4 yr olds [you’ve] given it to” - just don’t be embarrassed when I trump your gift with a piece of tin-foil.
Yeesh.
