Well, the supposed “Game of the Year” is finally out in Ausland. Delay after delay, outrage after outrage, the iconic fighter is out on its new family friendly console.
To be straight up and honest, Brawl is awesome. It really is everything I personally expected, if not more. The one thing I do wonder is how much this PAL release delay has affected, and will affect the game’s sales.
The only reason I bring up this point is due to my local K-Mart only receiving 6 copies of the game for launch day. Now just to clarify, I don’t live in some country town / Perth or anything, but in a major city. Obviously they will get more shipments, but when ringing up to ask if they still had a copy, I was told they had only sold one copy all day. Then I bought my copy, which raised the bar to two.
Pondering the abovementioned thought, I strolled into the overpriced EB Games, and after a chat with the sales assistant, found a very similar story, with their store only selling 3 copies all day.
I think this really shows how delays affect an audience. Not only has Nintendo’s reputation been tarnished, but they have lost a LOT of consumers. On forums around the web, I’ve noticed multiple Wii’s for sale. You guys on our own forums even said you were more hyped for Mario Kart than Brawl, simply because of how long it has taken to get here.
So Nintendo, if you are reading this, along with the many other Nintendo sites around Australia, you’ve really done the dirty on your fans. Oh and also, what the hell is going on with Club Nintendo?
